As a Junior Architect, this position will work closely with senior architects, project managers and independently to assist in the design, planning, and execution of various architectural projects. This role will involve creating detailed drawings, models, and presentations, as well as conducting research and analysis to support project development. Through this position, there will be many opportunities to work on a diverse range of projects, from space planning, renovations, turnkey ground ups, and in-lines.

primary duties

  • Essential job functions or duties of this position are as follows:
  • Assist in the development of architectural designs and plans.
  • Create detailed drawings, models, and presentations, interior and exterior.
  • Interior finishes, millwork design, materials, lighting.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support project development.
  • Collaborate with senior architects and project managers.
  • Ensure designs comply with building codes and regulations.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Coordinate with contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation.
  • Review and revise designs based on feedback.
  • Support the project team in various administrative tasks.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of design standards and guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and project schedules.
  • Participate in design reviews and quality assurance processes.

relationships

  • Participate in weekly status/progress meetings to review and provide updates for projects.
  • Establish effective working relationships with all functional units of the company, customers and colleagues.

knowledge and skills

  • Proficiency in architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
  • Strong understanding of architectural principles and design processes.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • Excellent technical drawing and modeling skills.
  • Must have DD and CD phase experience.
  • Familiar with contractual CA phase processes including submittal review.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Portfolio showcasing previous architectural work.
  • Basic knowledge of sustainable design practices.
  • Familiarity with project management software is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct site visits and inspections.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Creative thinking and innovative approach to design.

education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years commercial/retail experience in all phases of the project.
